At the invitation of the Pharmaceutical Department with the Medical Analytics Department of the Medical University of Lublin, the representation of the PĹ staff (in a reduced line-up) played a volleyball match with the representation of this Faculty on December 2 as a part of the charity action “We play for Frank”. The match with huge cheering and beautiful setting won the host team in the tie-break that ended with the score15:13. We ended the evening with a nice meeting combined with the auction, from which the income was also intended for Frank’s treatment. Several liquors from this auction went to Lodz.
Traditionally, in September, another conference in the sequel of Molecular Interactions in Biomolecules (MIB 2017), organized by Professor Jaroslav Burda, was held. This time, in addition to interesting lectures, we managed to get to know the local specialties (as you can see in the picture) – after all it is Pilsen!
Between 10 and 14 of July 10th European Isotope Conference on isotopes was held. Since the beginnings of these conferences are disappearing in the darkness of history, I recall below their history: 1999 The International Conference on Stable Isotopes and Isotope Effects, Carry Le Rouet, France (Étienne Roth) 2001 2001: an Isotope Oddysey, Zakopane, Poland (Piotr Paneth), the sheep bell, an equivalent of the whip of the GRCs, originated from this conference and is passed from chairperson to chairperson 2003 International Isotope Effects Conference, Uppsala, Sweden (Olle Matsson) 2005 Isotopes, Bath, U.K. (Ian Williams) 2007 Isotopes 2007, Benicassim, Spain (Vicent Moliner) 2009 Isotopes 2009, Cluj-Napoca, Romania (Damian Axente) 2011 Isotopes 2011, Gréoux-Les-Bains, France (Richard Robins) 2013 Isotopes 2013, Sopot, Poland (Agnieszka Dybała-Defratyka) 2015 ISOTOPES 2015 – Isotope effects across disciplines, Jerusalem, Israel (Faina Gelman) 2017 Isotopes 2017 – The Cross-Disciplinary Conference on Stable Isotope Sciences, Ascona, Switzerland (Thomas Hofstetter) 2019 …., Gemany (Martin Elsner) The series of these meetings is important since last year the board of the Gordon Research Conferences trust decided not to continue the series of conferences on isotopes initiated by Jacob Bigeleisen in 1945.
On April 3, I had the pleasure of attending the commendation ceremony of Commandant de l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques for Professor Stanislaw Bielecki. The ceremony was held at the residence of the Ambassador of France and took place in a very pleasant atmosphere.
during IV Championship of Polish Academics in Volleyball, which took place on 25-26 February in Rzeszow, we won gold medals in both categories; open and 50+ (all players over 50 years old)! There was no end of joy! We have finished all matchesin the eliminations without loss of a set. It was not until the final game in the open category when the excitement started. Thanks to courtesy of Professor Ewa Bulska I had today the pleasure of visiting the campus Ochota and participate in the Polish-Israeli meeting on trilateral cooperation in the field of isotope studies. I am grateful for the enormous hospitality of Professor Bulska and I hope that it was a first step towards a fruitful cooperation.
