On February 28 – March 3 teams representing universities in volleyball met again in Poznań for the sixth tournament. Much richer this year was the setting of the championships in connection with the hundred anniversary of the hosts – Poznan University. 19 teams participated in the championships (including four in the +50 category). For the third time in the +50 category our team won the gold medal! Unfortunately, our younger colleagues in the Open category didn’t have luck in drawing and were assigned to a very tough group which they failed to leave. On the other hand, among the +50 category competitors, four were also awarded: the best server (Jolanta Walenciak), the best hitter (Tomasz Kubiak), the best setter (Piotr Paneth) and the MVP of the tournament (Paweł Stączek). Warm thanks to my teammates for the spirit of fight and great atmosphere.
Yesterday, along with Prof. Kurt Kremer, we defended our ICRI-BioM project in Brussels, which reached the final phase of the evaluation in the Teaming for Excellence competition. All that remains is to keep our fingers crossed for success – the results are to be announced on March 28.
Interchemmed, whose coordination I was entrusted with, began operations. I had the honor to give an inaugural lecture during matriculation.
I congratulate the University of Lodz team on the victory in the Nationwide Volleyball Tournament of Higher School Employees. It is good that the gold medal stays in Lodz (although it is regrettable that by the decision of the Rector of TUL we were excluded from the struggle to keep it at our University). But the absence in Koszalin allowed us to take part in the VI Great Volleyball Tournament as part of the Chemikalia. And the Invincible team turned out to be invincible again.
it’s official – we’ve got a grant to set up an International Research Agenda (IRA). Legislative work has begun. As soon as formalities are completed, a competition for the director position will be announced. At the same time, the preparations for submitting the application in the second stage of the Teaming for Excellence competition are starting – winning also this grant would allow a significant extension of the IRA’s scientific activity.
On December 11-12 I had the pleasure to take an active part in the XXII conference of modern instrumental methods in trace analysis, which took place in Lodz. In addition to numerous interesting lectures, the organizers surprised us with a musical fest, which, combined with excellent food, made the evening meeting extremely successful.
